Ed Gillis, Founder

Ed Gillis has served as Founder and Chief Technical Officer of ReVENT® Medical since January of 2013, Ed served as President and CEO of ReVENT Medical from 2007 to January 2013. Previously he served as Vice President of Research and Development for SineXus (now Intersect ENT) and Apneon, an obstructive sleep apnea company and was Vice President of Engineering for Durect Corporation an early stage pharmaceutical company working on an implantable pump for treating chronic pain as well as other pain products. Previously, Ed worked in various positions in manufacturing and product development for EndoTex Interventional Systems, Cardiac Pathways Corporation, Spectranetics Corporation, Guidant Corporation and Baxter Healthcare. Ed is a senior level executive with proven success in early stage companies. He has built from scratch and provided leadership for early stage companies as well as R&D and manufacturing organizations Ed received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Masters in Plastics Engineering from The University of Massachusetts Lowell. He holds 21 US patents with 100+ pending worldwide.

Greg S. Garfield

Greg is an executive with extensive experience in running medical technology companies, including managing and leading people at all levels, as well operational management and business strategy and planning. Originally an attorney at Pillsbury Winthrop, Greg began his medical technology career at Guidant Corporation where he held a number of executive-level legal and business development positions in different Guidant operating companies. Following Guidant’s acquisition by Boston Scientific, Greg joined Acclarent, Inc. where he served initially as Vice President of Corporate Development, and then as Acclarent’s Chief Operating Officer through the acquisition and integration of Acclarent by Ethicon, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company.

Jacob Gunterberg, HealthCap, Partner

Jacob Gunterberg is a venture partner with HealthCap, a family of multi-stage life science venture capital funds. Prior to joining Odlander Fredrikson in 2007, he gained 14 years of investment banking experience, most recently with Hjalmarsson & Gunterberg Corporate Finance. His investment banking career started with ABB Aros in 1993. In 1997, he was appointed Director and responsible for the life sciences sector within the corporate finance department of Aros Securities. In 2000, he co-founded Hjalmarsson & Gunterberg Corporate Finance. Mr. Gunterberg has over his career gained extensive experience from origination and execution of transactions, predominantly within the areas of Mergers & Acquisitions, IPO's as well as public and private capital raisings. A significant share of these transactions has involved companies in the life sciences sector. Mr. Gunterberg received his M. Sc. in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Lund and has also studied at the University of St. Gallen.

Greg Young, Teton Capital Management, Founder and Partner

Greg Young has over 30 years of early stage investing experience as Founder and Partner of Teton Capital Management, which focuses on investments in technology including medical devices. He serves on several boards and advises several medical device startups in the areas of interventional cardiology, gynecology, neuro‐radiology, and otolaryngology. Greg served as Partner and General Manager of Melchor Venture Management (Portola Venture Fund), which focused on high‐technology early‐stage companies including investments in Software Publishing Corporation, 3COM Corporation, and The Learning Company. He is Chairman of the Board and was CEO of S.R. Smith, LLC and served as Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee for the PIMCO Strategic Global Government Fund (NYSE:RCS). Greg has a BS in Economics from University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University.

Tommy Hedberg

Tommy is an executive with extensive experience building and running international life science businesses. He started as Sales and Marketing Director for Atos Medical in 1990 and served as CEO for 15 years, building it up to a global market leader within its area, including acquisitions and startup of subsidiaries in about 15 countries. He served as Vice Chairman of Atos Medical 2013-2016. He started his career with sales and marketing positions during nine years in the pharmaceutical industry with Janssen Pharma and moved to Medscand AB to build an international gynecology business before moving to Atos Medical. In addition to ReVENT Medical, he is also on the Boards of Chordate Medical, Avidicare and as Chairman of LindheXtend.

Charles Rampersaud, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer

Charles Rampersaud joined ReVENT® Medical as its first employee in early 2012 as Chief Operating Officer, and was promoted to CEO in 2014. Prior to joining ReVENT, he served as Vice President of Engineering at AcelRx Pharmaceuticals for six years. As the 4th employee, he created and managed the design of their innovative patient controlled analgesia device. Before AcelRx, Charlie was the Director of Engineering at Apneon, working on sleep apnea devices. Previous to Apneon, he served as Director of Engineering at Durect Corporation, where he designed implantable pain pumps and other pain products. Prior to Durect Corporation, Charlie was an Engineering manager at Guidant (now Abbott) in the Cardiac Division. He came to Guidant via the Guidant acquistion of Cardio Thoracic Systems, where he worked on off-pump cardiac bypass surgery solutions. He started his career as a Designer for Honda Research and Development, which included a year of training in Japan at Honda Design Headquarters. Additionally, he has consulted for several medical device start-ups on design and development, including IP discovery. Charlie has several issued patents, and numerous pending. He has over 15 years of design, development, and manufacturing experience in the Medical Device arena and has worked on greater than 25 medical device and pharmaceutical products. Charlie holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
